Palace insiders react to Meghan’s post in the wake of Harry’s explosive interview

Palace insiders have reacted to the duchess’ telling Instagram post, which came just hours after Harry gave a scathing interview to the BBC.

Meghan’s decision to post a telling image on social media shortly after her husband’s explosive BBC interview has been branded a “rather giant f**k you” by royal sources.

On Friday, fresh from losing his legal appeal over the decision to downgrade his UK security status, the Duke of Sussex gave a blistering TV tell-all in which he once again criticised the royal institution and claimed the court ruling was a “good old fashioned establishment stitch up”.

The UK’s Court of Appeal had ruled out Harry’s bid for full time taxpayer-funded armed protection while in Britain, which had been taken off him when he quit royal duties in 2020.

Shortly after, during his BBC interview, Harry spoke of wanting to reconcile with his family, pointing out that he didn’t know “how much longer” his cancer-stricken father had left.

His wife then took to Instagram to post a black-and-white picture showing Harry holding six-year-old Prince Archie’s hand, with Princess Lilibet, three, on his shoulders, walking in the garden of their Montecito, California, home.

Unlike her other posts, there was no caption – allowing the image to speak for itself.

Palace insiders spoke to the Daily Mail in the wake of the drama, reportedly describing Meghan’s move as “a rather giant f*** you”.

And according to the publication’s royal editor, Rebecca English, while the King has not watched his son’s half-hour BBC interview in full, he’s heard enough to be “deeply upset” at Harry’s “wilful misunderstanding” of how the government’s security decisions are made, and the personal remarks about his lifespan.

The latter was also described as being in particularly “poor taste” more broadly behind Palace walls, according to the UK’s Telegraph.
Sources added to the publication that the interview will only deepen the rift between Harry and his father, and cement Palace fears that he can’t be trusted with their private issues.

“If there were anxieties about things remaining private, then Friday will not have done them the power of good,” a source explained.

An insider also told UK broadcaster ITV News that Harry’s interview again proved that there was “nothing that can be trusted to remain private” and that “as for there being no contact … he has just proven why, yet again”.

During the astonishingly candid chat, Harry claimed that he couldn’t “see a world” in which he would bring his wife and kids to London, as losing the legal battle over his UK security meant it was “impossible” for him to bring them there safely.

A Palace spokesman took the rare step of responding to his claims, stating: “All of these issues have been examined repeatedly and meticulously by the courts, with the same conclusion reached on each occasion.”
