Deuce Bigolo: Male Gigolo star Rob Schneider was recently “booed” off stage at a recent charity event, marking the second time in recent months that the comedian has been kicked off stage while performing a set.
Schneider reportedly performed a controversial set full of jokes about women, the trans community and other hot-button topics at a sold-out charity event for The Hospitals of Regina Foundation on June 1.
A witness told CBC, “Everyone in the room was groaning, saying, ‘What is going on?’ Like whispering to themselves. Not a single laugh at times. It was just very apparent how uncomfortable everyone felt and how unacceptable the things he was talking about were.”
The organisation was forced to issue an apology condemning Schneider’s performance.
“While we recognise that in a free and democratic society individuals are entitled to their views and opinions and that comedy is intended to be edgy, the content, positions and opinions expressed during Mr. Schneider’s set do not align with the values of our foundation and team,” the organisation said in a statement, per CBC.
The statement continues, “We do not condone, accept, endorse or share Mr. Schneider’s positions, as expressed during his comedy set and acknowledge that in this instance the performance did not meet the expectations of our audience and our team.”
The statement also notes that they decided during the set “to end his performance earlier than intended, to which he agreed and immediately left the stage.”
We can’t help but connect Schneider’s snafu to another incident involving a famous actor that happened just last week. Richard Dreyfuss similarly disappointed a crowd in Massachusetts when he reportedly joined an audience Q&A wearing a floral dress as a Taylor Swift song played in the background, after which he made transphobic, homophobic and misogynistic remarks that forced the theatre where he was speaking to issue an apology.
Before Schneider’s set, he also recently made headlines after his “off-colour and off-putting” routine was cut short at a Republican holiday gala in 2023.
The organisers of that event also issued an apology to attendees, noting that “last night’s program fell short.”
Schneider, however, denied that his set had been cut short and pointed out that he was paid $US50,000 for his appearance that evening.
“I did 50 minutes because that’s what I was paid to do. Nobody removed me from stage, somebody waved to me at the 50-minute mark,” he said.
The Leo star also refused to apologise for the subject matter, which reportedly took aim at Asian people and mentioned “Korean w***e-houses.”
“I’m not changing my material or apologising for my jokes to anybody. Enough with this woke bulls**t. America’s sick of it,” Schneider told TMZ.
