Nicole Kidman and Naomi Watts face backlash over support of controversial fashion house Balenciaga

Nicole Kidman is one of Australia’s most beloved stars, but she’s come under fire over newly-emerged pictures.

Naomi Watts and Nicole Kidman are both facing a backlash over their support for the premium fashion brand Balenciaga.

Kidman and her daughter Sunday Rose Urban stepped out in Paris to attend the star-studded Balenciaga fashion show with the Oscar winner’s best pal, Watts.

However, soon after pictures of the stars hit social media, they faced comments from those unhappy with them for supporting Balenciaga.

“Nicole and Naomi should know better,” commented one fan, with a second writing: “They just couldn’t pass the opportunity. So sad and vane.”

“I simply cannot believe that anyone, particularly a parent, would associate with this brand,” said another. “Much less GIVE them positive publicity and support.”

“But such poor taste to associate with this brand,” moaned a fourth annoyed fan of the pair.

“What a MESS,” another commented under a tweet on X, formerly known as Twitter, with other fans echoing the sentiment, with one saying: “Surely not Balenciaga...”

Balenciaga recently came under fire over a controversial advertising campaign that featured children holding plush toys wearing bondage-style attire.

In another ad, eagle-eyed social media users spotted a document tucked under a Balenciaga handbag, which appeared to reference a court case about child pornography.

The brand later issued a series of grovelling apologies, pulling down the two ad campaigns and filing a $US25 million ($A37 million) lawsuit against the production company and set designer allegedly responsible.

Meanwhile, in April, Kidman made some gushing comments about her daughters, who she credits for her success. The Aussie actress also shares daughter Faith with Urban. “I have my sister, mother, nieces, nephews, daughters. I’m raising a soon to be 16-year-old and a 13-year-old who are divine,” she told People.

“They’re just lovely people and I’m so lucky that I have Keith, who’s just my love, my deep, deep love. That gives me the ability to go and do whatever I have to do because I know where I can come back to.”

Watts is just as enamoured with her children. Last year, for Kai’s 14th birthday, the actress got emotional as she marked the special day in an Instagram tribute.

“You are everything to me. I’m so lucky to be your mum,” she wrote at the time.

“Keep dancing and showing the world your dynamic and glorious spirit.”
