Jamie Foxx appears to be in good spirits following his mysterious “medical complication” in April.

The Day Shift actor was seen smiling and throwing up the peace sign in a video obtained by TMZ as he cruised down the Chicago River on a boat Sunday, as reported by Page Six.

The Ray star, 55, was wearing an all-black outfit with aviator shades for the weekend outing. He was joined by at least two other passengers.

It marked the first time that Foxx has been spotted in public since his hospitalisation.

He has yet to publicly address the health scare.

Foxx was hospitalised in Georgia on April 12, his oldest daughter Corinne shared on social media.

“We wanted to share that, my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday. Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery,” she wrote at the time.

Foxx shares Corinne with his ex Connie Kline. He also has a second daughter, Annalise Bishop, 14, with his ex Kristin Grannis.

A source told TMZ that the actor’s unspecified condition was “serious enough” at the time that his family travelled to be by his side.

Before the medical emergency, he had been filming on the Netflix movie Back in Action with Cameron Diaz.

Diaz continued to shoot other scenes alongside Foxx’s body double amid his hospitalisation. It’s unclear when the Just Mercy star will resume filming.

A family member told Page Six last month that the secrecy around his condition has raised concerns about how his career may be affected in the future.

The future of Back in Action is also up in the air.
