Scott Stapp posted a cryptic message about leaving an opponent “with their dignity” after his wife, Jaclyn Stapp, filed for divorce.

On Saturday, the Creed frontman, 50, shared a sermon from T. D. Jakes on his Instagram Stories.

“Speak without being offensive, listen without being defensive and always leave your opponent with their dignity,” the pastor, 66, said.

Scott’s message comes a day after TMZ reported that his wife filed to end their union after 18 years of marriage.

“Out of respect for their family, Scott intends to navigate this difficult time privately,” a rep for the musician told People.

The couple’s split was years in the making as Jaclyn, 43, had previously filed for divorce against Scott in June 2022, according to court records viewed by Page Six.

The beauty queen’s filing was later withdrawn, but the singer filed to end his marriage in May 2023.

A source told People: “Scott and Jaclyn had determined the marriage was over but continued to try to make it work.”

Jaclyn and Scott tied the knot in February 2006 after meeting at a gala for the Muscular Dystrophy Association in New York.

They share three children: daughter Mia, 17, and sons Daniel, 13, and Anthony, 6.

The rockstar is also dad to son Jagger, 25, with his first wife, Hilaree Burns.

During his marriage to Jaclyn, Scott had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder after abusing prescription drugs, alcohol and marijuana.

“I had a psychotic break,” he previously told People. “I had delusions. I thought an angel was sitting on the hood of my car. I grew a beard to look like Jesus. I made threats that had the Secret Service coming to my door. My behaviour became dangerous.”

The fashion model said she was watching her husband “die a slow, painful, public death,” adding that she “was terrified.”

Their split comes as he is gearing up for a reunion tour with his band, Creed, for the first time in 12 years.
