Isla Fisher said to have consulted top divorce lawyer two years ago

Fresh insight has emerged about Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen’s shock divorce after 14 years of marriage.

Isla Fisher told friends she consulted a top celebrity divorce lawyer in 2022 in the lead up to her split from Sacha Baron Cohen, it’s been revealed.

Aussie-born Fisher, 48, and Cohen, 52, announced their split after 14 years of marriage in co-ordinated social media posts on Friday.

“After a long tennis match lasting over twenty years, we are finally putting our racquets down,” the posts read.
“In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage. We have always prioritised our privacy, and have been quietly working through this change.”

But according to a source cited by The Sun, Fisher sought legal advice for a divorce two years ago.

“Isla has known for some time the marriage was over, and after some difficult conversations with Sacha, made the decision to consult a divorce lawyer,” the source said.

“This was back in early summer, 2022.”

According to insiders cited by The Sun, the pair, which have three children together, could feud over Cohen’s estimated £40 million ($A74m) fortune.

Celebrity lawyer “Fiona Shackleton was recommended by mutual contacts”, the source added.

“Fiona is an incredible lawyer, and utterly fearsome in both reputation and ability,” they said.

“It was suggested they keep things as amicably as possible for the sake of the children.

“However, with Fiona on board, no stone will be left unturned if things did turn nasty — which neither of them want.”

Shackleton has previously negotiated Prince Charles’ divorce to Princess Diana and Sir Paul McCartney’s split from Heather Mills.

Sacha has consulted with Laura Wasser, whose previous clients include Johnny Depp in his split from Amber Heard and Angelina Jolie in her divorce from Brad Pitt.

The split comes amid Rebel Wilson’s inappropriate behaviour claims against Cohen.

The Aussie star says she has been contacted by other women since she made claims against Cohen.

It is not suggested the women Wilson claims have come forward have made similar allegations against Cohen that she has. He has vigorously denied all the claims.
