Ben Affleck reacts to new Jennifer Lopez interview: ‘Will talk about the break-up forever’

A source close to Ben Affleck has reportedly revealed how he really feels about his ex Jennifer Lopez spilling on their split.

Jennifer Lopez's split from Ben Affleck almost took her out 'for good'

Ben Affleck was reportedly blindsided by Jennifer Lopez’s decision to break her silence on their divorce, with the singer describing her heartbreak as “sad” and “scary” in a new interview.

The Let’s Get Loud singer, 55, filed for divorce in August, ending months of speculation about the state of her two-year marriage to Affleck, 52.

It was the high-profile couple’s second attempt at a relationship, having previously been engaged in the early 2000s.

According to the Daily Mail, Affleck had not been aware his ex-wife was planning on speaking out about their break-up in a new magazine spread, but admitted that her history of publicly sharing personal details made it likely she could talk about it “forever”.

“Ben knows that she will talk about the break-up forever, because she has made an album and films about their two relationships,” a source told the publication.

“He would love for her not to talk about it, but he feels she will always speak out.

“He didn’t get a heads-up that she was going to talk about their relationship, but he assumed that it would eventually happen. It is a part of his life just as much as anything else, he’s never going to get away from it.”

The insider said that the Gone Girl actor is “OK with however Jen has to deal with it” as she has “always been one to talk” about personal matters.

“People deal with loss and break-up in their own way, and this is what Jen had to do and Ben has to accept it,” the source added.

“He would like to keep some stuff to himself, especially major details about their relationship.”

Affleck and Lopez’s 2022 reunion attracted plenty of attention, fuelled by the singer’s love-inspired album This Is Me … Now, musical film This Is Me … Now: A Love Story and documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told, all released this year.

Addressing their split for the first time in Interview magazine this week, Lopez admitted it was “f**king hard” to get through.

“It feels lonely, unfamiliar, scary,” she told comedian Nikki Glaser.

“It feels sad. It feels desperate. But when you sit in those feelings and go, ‘These things are not going to kill me,’ it’s like actually, I am capable of joy and happiness all by myself. Being in a relationship doesn’t define me.’
Lopez, who did not mention Affleck by name, also insisted she had no regrets.

“Not one second. That doesn’t mean it didn’t almost take me out for good. It almost did.”

She added that she was “not looking for anybody” to date right now.

“Somebody who truly loves you will help you heal those parts of yourself,” she said.

“That’s what I’ve learned about love, that it is a secure thing. You make me feel safe, and when I fall short of the glory, you understand me and you help me to grow to be better, because you have your boundaries and I have my boundaries.”
