A behind-the-scenes photo of Taylor Swift and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, posing with two controversial podcasters has sparked outrage online.
In the pic, the singer could be seen standing innocently enough next to her NFL star boyfriend, but it was the presence of podcasters and MAGA supporters Taylor Lewan and Will Compton that raised eyebrows.
The former NFL stars, who now host the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast, shared the pic to social media, featuring themselves stood beside Kelce and Swift all flexing their muscles and gazing intently towards the camera.
“Confirmed: Taylor Swift is FOR THE BOYS,” the influencers captioned the photo.
The picture and the accompanying caption has sparked commentary on social media given Swift previously endorsed Democratic nominee Kamala Harris ahead of the US presidential race last year against Donald Trump, who Lewan and Compton support.
“But, The Boys are for Trump,” one user tweeted on X, while another commented, “Get away from taylor!”
Another user simply urged the men to “delete this” because “taylor swift is FOR THE GIRLS”.
“She actually is not [for the boys], have you ever listened to her songs lol,” another fan argued, as one echoed, “No she is not. ‘F the patriarchy’ if I remember correctly”, referring to lyrics from Swift’s hit song All Too Well.
The post has also caused confusion among online users who are well aware that Swift is selective of the events she attends and who she is photographed with.
“Taylor Swift is so aware about when she is seen and who she is seen with. She curates her persona so carefully and while she may not be MAGA she is okay with being aligned with MAGA. Complicit queen,” quipped one user.
“These are not random dudes,” another tweeted. “They are known and have a platform. She went incognito for months so she chooses when she wants to be photographed. Taylor is okay with being associated with these guys.”
“This is absolutely her worst era like this is horrible,” another commented.
Swifties were quick to defend the singer, arguing that she’s bound to encounter people who have different political views when out and about.
In this instance, Swift was in Nashville, Tennessee, attending an event at Tight End University – a facility Kelce founded in 2021 to help develop the next generation of tight ends.
“She endorsed Kamala and got s**t from MAGA so really … it’s just a question of being out in the world and interacting with people who also exist,” wrote a fan.
