Dannii Minogue labelled Russell Brand ‘vile predator’ in resurfaced 2006 interview

Amid multiple sexual abuse claims against the British comedian, a brutal 2006 interview with Aussie pop star Dannii Minogue has resurfaced.

Nearly 20 years before a bombshell documentary made multiple sexual abuse allegations about Russell Brand, Aussie pop star Dannii Minogue reportedly labelled him a “vile predator”.

The singer, who once sat down for a TV interview with Brand, made the blunt assessment all the way back in 2006, in an interview with The Mirror at the Michele Watches Summer Party, per the Daily Mail UK.

“He is completely crazy and a bit of a vile predator. I certainly don’t think he has cured his sex addiction, that’s for sure,” Minogue said.

“He wouldn’t take no for an answer. [ …] He always goes that step too far. Never quite far enough to slap his face, but usually too far.

“He’s obviously very intelligent – but he wears more make-up than I do. Normally I love guys with eyeliner on. It can be very sexy, but not on Russell. Absolutely no way, never, he’s just not my type.

“Throughout the whole interview, he kept making shocking remarks that I can’t even repeat. Just uttering the words would make me blush.”

According to a joint investigation published by The Sunday Times of London, the Times of London and Channel 4 Dispatches, Brand, 48, has been accused of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse by four women at the height of his fame between 2006 and 2013.

One woman alleges Brand raped her against a wall in his Los Angeles home, while another claims she was assaulted when he was 31 and she was only 16 and still at school.

She has accused Brand, who she says referred to her as “The Child”, of being emotionally abusive and controlling during their three-month relationship.

Two other women accused the star of sexual assault, while one of them also alleges he was physically and emotionally abusive.

The British comedian and actor firmly denies the allegations, posting a video late on Friday night local time, in which he vehemently refuted what he described as “very serious criminal allegations” made against him.

In the nearly three-minute monologue, which was shared with his 11 million X followers and 6.5 million YouTube subscribers, Brand insisted any encounters during his “promiscuous” period were “consensual” and that he was being targeted in a “co-ordinated media attack”.

“Is there another agenda at play? Particularly when we’ve seen co-ordinated media attacks before, like with Joe Rogan, when he dared to take a medicine that the mainstream media didn’t approve of, and we saw a spate of headlines from media outlets across the world using the same language,” Brand said.

Meanwhile, old remarks from his famous ex-wife, Katy Perry, have resurfaced in the wake of the allegations, with the pop star having seemingly hinted at Brand’s dark secrets.

In a 2013 interview with Vogue, Perry spoke about her “controlling” ex-husband and their “really hurtful” marriage, which began in October 2010 and lasted only 14 months.

Brand reportedly ended their relationship with a text on New Year’s Eve 2011.

In the decade-old Vogue interview, Perry explained that she had initially blamed herself for their break-up – until she found out “the real truth” about her ex.

“At first when I met him he wanted an equal, and I think a lot of times strong men do want an equal, but then they get that equal and they’re like, ‘I can’t handle the equalness.’ He didn’t like the atmosphere of me being the boss on tour. So that was really hurtful, and it was very controlling, which was upsetting,” Perry said.

“I felt a lot of responsibility for it ending, but then I found out the real truth, which I can’t necessarily disclose because I keep it locked in my safe for a rainy day. I let go and I was like, ‘This isn’t because of me; this is beyond me.’ So I have moved on from that.”

Back then, Perry did not specify what “truth” she had uncovered – but the new allegations against Brand have caused many fans to speculate.

The Forgetting Sarah Marshall star is now married to Laura Gallacher, who is currently pregnant with their third child.

His wife has not commented publicly on the allegations and has appeared to have deleted her Instagram account.
