‘Cancelled’ Australian TV chef Pete Evans lands massive new gig

Controversial Aussie TV chef Pete Evans has taken to social media to announce a surprising new gig after being ‘cancelled’.

Former My Kitchen Rules celebrity chef Pete Evans has landed himself a big new gig.

Evans, a prominent sceptic of Covid vaccines and masks, was dropped from his hosting role on the popular Seven reality cooking show in May 2020 over his outspoken views, and in November that year he was engulfed in further controversy after posting a cartoon on Instagram featuring a Nazi “black sun” symbol.

Since being forced off TV screens as a celebrity chef, Evans has entered into the world of cryptocurrency.

On Monday, Evans took to Instagram to announce that he has been invited to be a speaker at the world’s largest Bitcoin convention being held in Las Vegas in May.

Tickets will set back attendees anywhere from $500 to $3000 USD, with attendees getting to listen to speeches from the likes of US senators, tech billionaires and Evans on all things bitcoin.

“I am honoured and excited to be speaking at Bitcoin Vegas in May on the marriage of long term regenerative health and wealth for ALL,” wrote the former celebrity chef when sharing the news on Instagram.

Meanwhile, in February, Evans, who recently claimed to have gone for dinner with Donald Trump, opened up about the controversy that saw his best-selling books being torn from shelves by major Australian retailers.

It all went south for Evans in November 2020 when he cemented his “cancellation” when he shared a cartoon on Instagram that he swiftly deleted following backlash.

The image, which had racist connotations that Evans claimed to not be aware of, showed a caterpillar wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat speaking to a butterfly with the black sun on its wing.

Target and Kmart immediately cut ties with the star and brands including Baccarat also followed suit.

“It was a coordinated attack, it wasn’t just f**king out of the blue,” Evans told the Secrets of the Underworld podcast back in February.

“Within the space of 24 hours, the 15 business partners I was involved with all pretty much publicly denounced me. For that to happen it has to be a co-ordinated effort from some party. I don’t know who or what, but it wasn’t like, ‘Pete f**ked up’, it was like, ‘Pete f**ked up, let’s put the attack dogs onto this.’”

Evans suggested the cancellation was intended “to dissuade anybody else that may want to stand up against the vaccine or this, that and the other thing”.

“This is what we can do to somebody, so be good boys and girls, just go along with the agenda, don’t stick your head up because we will financially destroy you,’” he said.
