Aussie legend Steve Irwin’s daredevil ways have been remembered in a stunning throwback video shared by his daughter Bindi.

In the video shared on Bindi’s Instagram page the late animal lover looks small crawling alongside a giant lizard.

In the voice over, ‘the Crocodile Hunter’ can be heard saying: “The largest and certainly the most dangerous lizard on earth – the legendary Komodo Dragon”.

The dragons can grow to be 3m in length.

Bindi shared the footage as part of a compilation video that included herself, her husband Chandler Powell and brother Robert playing with lizards of all shapes and sizes to mark World Lizard Day.

“From our family to yours, Happy World Lizard Day,” she said in the post.

Steve died on September 4 in 2006, when a stingray barb pierced his chest.

At the time, he was filming one of many encounters with Australia’s wildlife for his documentary – Ocean’s Deadliest – at the Great Barrier Reef.

Bindi’s post was loved by more than 52,000 social media users and netted heartfelt comments from fans.

“I miss Steve. He brought everyone together through his love of animals,” one said.

“Holy crap your dad was brave. We saw these lizards at Komodo National Park and no way would I have done that …” another wrote.

It comes as Robert shared a video of himself handling a snake in the bush.

In the video, which he captioned “Helping a tree snake cross the road”, Robert appears to have really taken on characteristics of his dad.

The snake can be seen winding around his arm and through his fingers, as he explains how northern tree snakes manoeuvre through the wild.

“They look like a little noodle … and they’re really at home in the trees, being a tree snake, as the name suggests,” he said.

“At the moment he’s sort of treating my hand like a tree, he’s sort of just all around.

“He doesn’t have any venom. they’re completely non venomous. And they really rely on speed and camouflage. They’re incredibly fast and just amazing climbers.”

He explained that a snake of his size would be going for small prey.
