An Aussie radio host has opened about a flirtatious encounter she had with Chris Hemsworth before he suddenly blocked her on social media.

Nikki Osborne spoke publicly about her experience for the first time on her Brisbane breakfast show Ash, Luttsy & Nikki Osborne, telling her Nova 106.9 co-hosts that she became friends with the Thor star only for their friendship to go sour over a joke she made about his brother Liam Hemsworth and his then-wife Miley Cyrus.

Nikki – who is also an actress and comedian who appeared on Dancing With The Stars last year – revealed that she had met Chris at a charity event in Melbourne in the early 2000s and she was convinced he was flirting with her.

“I think he was quite flirtatious,” she told co-hosts Ashley Bradnam and David “Luttsy” Lutteral. “It felt like he was flirting with me … in my head, I’m going ‘Oh, it’s just another Home And Away himbo.’”

But they hit it off and they continued to chat “in a corner, next to a pot plant” during which Chris told her he was “thinking about giving LA a crack”.

But in what she describes as a “sliding doors” moment, her then-fiance arrived at the event and beelined for them after seeing Chris getting cosy with his girl.

“What could have been if my [now] husband hadn’t rudely interrupted our conversation,” she wondered on-air, before later adding, “Now when we’re watching Thor or The Avengers or anything like that, I always say to the kids, ‘Yeah, I could’ve had him, but your father ruined it.’”

However, Nikki said she and Chris still befriended each other on Facebook after the event and occasionally kept in touch.

“We did exchange Facebook friend requests, that was back when it was private … when you could only have 5000 people, there were no public pages yet,” she said. “And so we just became friends on Facebook!”

But things went south for the pair when Nikki commented on one of Chris’ posts, which was seemingly about Liam and Miley’s relationship problems.

“Then there was trouble in the press between Liam and Miley,” Nikki recalled. “There was trouble in paradise, and then Chris posted on his private page saying, ‘There’s nothing worse than watching someone you love make the same mistakes over and over.’”

Nikki said she couldn’t help but make a comment, which did not sit well with the actor.

“So because I’m an idiot, I wrote, ‘Ebola. I reckon Ebola’s worse’ … because there was an Ebola breakout, topical, I thought I was being funny,” she said.

“He blocked me … I got unfriended. It was probably a little insensitive. This is why comedians end up, you know, miserable and alone, because they go for the joke instead of the considered, considerate response.”

Nikki went on to marry Jeremy Starr and they celebrated 17 years of marriage last year.

Nikki went on to marry her fiance Jeremy Starr in 2007 and Chris went on to marry Spanish actress Elsa Pataky in 2010. The Hemsworths now live in Bryon Bay, not far from Nikki who is based in Brisbane.

Just last year, Nikki and her husband celebrated 17 years of marriage, marking the moment with a trip to Spain.

“This lucky bastard married me 17 years ago on October 6,” she shared at the time.

“They say ‘in sickness and in health’ and I’m reminding him of that as he’s currently nursing me through the worst episode of vertigo I’ve ever experienced in some Spanish village I don’t even know the name of. Oh, the joys of travel.”
