Aussie actor and star of The Mentalist, Simon Baker charged with drink driving offences

Australian actor Simon Baker is expected to front court next month after he was reportedly charged with drink driving related offences.

Australian actor and star of The Mentalist, Simon Baker, has reportedly been charged with drink driving related offences.

The 55-year-old was reportedly charged with two offences and will appear in a Mullumbimby court on September 4.

Mr Baker was reportedly charged with attempting to drive while under the influence of alcohol and a second charge of driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, The Australian reported.

Mr Baker earned himself a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his portrayal of Patrick Jane in The Mentalist between 2008 and 2015.

Most recently, he was nominated for a TV Week Logie Award and 11 other awards for his leading role in TV show, Boy Swallows Universe.

Logies ceremony is being held in Sydney on Sunday night.

It is understood Mr Baker spent much of his youth in the NSW northern rivers region and owns a property in Nashua near Byron Bay,

Mr Baker split with his actor wife Rebecca Rigg several years ago after 20 years of marriage.

The pair have three children together, who were raised in Los Angeles.
