Britney Spears has lashed out at the police after they visited her home for a welfare check.
Police at the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office knocked on Spears’ door on Saturday after someone with “personal ties” to the star called them and shared their concern for the legendary US pop star.
Fans had shared their worries for Spears after she posted a video of herself dancing while holding a pair of prop knives, which some had believed to be real.
Following the visit from the police, Spears took to Instagram to hit back at police for making the decision to pay her a visit at her home.
She told fans she would be getting an apology from the authorities, and also lashed out at her estranged mother.
“Is it a joke in the news again with welfare checks??? Come on America … we cooler than that, right ??? The officers came to my home and said they would not leave until they spoke to me as people do 4 minute performances with them. I am getting an apology,” Spears wrote.
She continued: “I’ve been bullied in my home for so long now…ITS ENOUGH! Don’t talk about it, come on, let’s DO !!! As my mom [sic] does the silent treatment when paps ask questions about her own daughter as if I’m in the wrong…nope it’s an old game. People need to be responsible for their actions! It’s about power for cops.”
Following some concern from fans last Friday, Spears shared some insight into the video of her dancing and told concerned fans that she had just been paying tribute to fellow pop princess Shakira.
“I know I spooked everyone with the last post, but these are fake knives that my team rented from Hand Prop shop in LA,” she wrote Friday in the caption of another knives-dancing video.
“These are not real knives. No one needs to worry or call the police,” continued the singer.
“I’m trying to imitate one of my favourite performers Shakira … a performance I was inspired by. Cheers to us bad girls who aren’t afraid to push boundaries and take risks.”
