Brisbane turns green for Charli XCX as

An iconic Brisbane hotel and landmarks across Australia and New Zealand will light up in ‘brat green’ to mark Charli XCX’s return to the region.

South East Queensland is set to glow green as Charli XCX fever sweeps the region, with several landmark buildings lighting up in ‘brat green’ to celebrate the pop star’s headlining act at the 2025 Laneway Festival.

The dazzling light display is part of a nationwide tribute marking Charli XCX’s much-anticipated return to Australia and New Zealand, with the festival kicking off in Brisbane on February 8.

Following Wednesday’s announcement confirming Charli XCX as one of the headliners, Brisbane’s iconic Hotel X in Fortitude Valley will be among the landmarks bathed in the vibrant green hue from October 9-10, echoing the colours of her iconic album art.

This ‘brat green’ transformation will spread across Australia and New Zealand, with other major landmarks like Auckland’s Sky Tower, Melbourne’s Town Hall, and the Gold Coast’s Marina Mirage Sails following suit, all paying tribute to the 365-party-girl sensation.

Laneway Festival marketing director and Brisbane native Emma Doilibi expressed her excitement over the star’s involvement.

“Charli XCX is an undeniable cultural phenomenon, and having her on the Laneway Festival 2025 line-up is a huge pop culture moment for Australia and New Zealand,” Ms Doilibi said.

“Fans have been patiently waiting while the Northern Hemisphere had their brat summer, and as the saying goes, good things come to those who wait.”

The buzz surrounding Charli’s return began last week when bright-green billboards featuring her signature brat font appeared across cities in Australia and New Zealand, sparking widespread speculation.
