It’s hard to look away from Tim Robards’ latest Men’s Health Australia photo shoot, as the strapping former Bachelor star shows off his bulging flexed body among the rocks and waves, making it very clear to see why it’s his third cover for the magazine.
And while he’s a taken man of three years with his Bachelor rose winner and lawyer girlfriend Anna Heinrich, Tim’s not off the market from lending a helping hand.
Wearing many hats, including a chiropractor, model and fitness program entrepreneur, the buff babe says anyone can get a sizzling summer body with just a few lifestyle tweaks — and has dedicated his career to help people sculpt the body they’ve always dreamt of through The Robards Method.
Speaking to Confidential about his latest cover shoot with Men’s Health — Tim, 33, says working with the publication is a good sign he’s where he’s meant to be.
“It backs up that I’m on track with what I love to do, and that’s to be an inspiration,” he says, adding that as a young man, he’d always dreamt of working with like-minded brands.
“I use to read these types of magazines as a teenager and take out all the tips and stuff — I use to think ‘I’d love to be on the cover’ and then gradually got my chance.”
And while we all marvel at his chiselled abs and perfect pecks, Tim says getting the ultimate body is something we’re all capable of.
“I believe my physical body is a reflection of my lifestyle. I don’t go to the gym now and do abs to build my six pack — I do functional training which means feeling better, moving better and being stronger.”
So for us rookies who might be a bit behind on the summer toning front, Tim says there’s still time to shape up, but recommends looking at things from a holistic point of view, first with diet.
“The main key if you need to lose weight is diet. You can be sleeping and exercising well but if you’re filling your face crap you will potentially still struggle to lose weight.”
He recommends focusing on what goes into your mouth by following his 7.2.1 system. That means eating super clean 70% of the time, sensible for 20% and then for 10% allow leniency.
“If you break it down into meals and you have 21 meals a week, 15 meals super clean, four sensible and two will be relaxed — it’s about creating healthy habits.”
Secondly, to melt the winter body away, Tim recommends turning up the heat.
“The best way to get results is to create a bit of stress. If you want your body to change you’ve got to change what you’re doing — you might perceive it as pain initially. If you’re going for a run and you’re just sitting at a really comfortable pace you’re not going provoke that much change, whereas if you push it just a little bit further into discomfort that’s where the body goes ‘right, we have to adapt to this so next time we’re not going to be in discomfort, this will be easier’. And gradually you just take it a little bit further every time.”
The fitness guru, who runs various challenges and plans through The Robards Method, adds that it’s all about starting small and gradually building up fitness levels rather than going too hard and then fizzing out.
“This is a lifestyle, something you do all the time. I’m cover magazine ready all the time. I don’t have to diet and eat chicken and broccoli for a month- it’s just about finding balance and respecting what your body needs.”
