DESPITE her stunning looks and glowing skin, Olivia Wilde says her post-baby body looks shockingly normal.
“I am not in perfect shape,” shared the new mum, who gave birth to son Otis 11 months ago, in a personal essay for the April issue of Shape Magazine.
“In fact, I’m softer than I’ve ever been, including that unfortunate semester in high school when I simultaneously discovered Krispy Kreme and pot,” added Wilde, who recently relocated to Brooklyn with partner Jason Sudeikis.
“The photos of me in this magazine have been generously constructed to show my best angles and I assure you, good lighting has been warmly embraced. The truth is, I’m a mother, and I look like one.”
Despite staying fit by way of Pilates and SoulCycle up to her 8½-months-pregnant mark, Wilde says her body looked like a “deflated pool toy” after welcoming her first child.
“After giving birth, I joined the ranks of millions of new mothers when I moaned, ‘Why do I still look pregnant? Is there another one stuck in there?’”
But settling into the reality that her once-trim frame had transformed into something unimaginable wasn’t the only new adjustment. The 31-year-old says her vagina was also unrecognisable.
“For a couple of weeks after you pop that sucker out, you are the walking wounded,” she unabashedly shared. “First of all, you haven’t seen your vagina in months, even though it’s all her fault you’re in this situation. Now that you can confirm that she is, in fact still there, she isn’t the gal you remember, and would rather you back off and give her some space (and an ice diaper) for the time being, thank you very much.”
Despite the changes she endured, and the unpleasant sights she saw thereafter, Wilde would certainly welcome another baby into her life.
“…Weirdly I can’t wait to do it again,” she said about feeling empowered after giving birth. “I confronted my own intense strength and was pretty damn impressed by it.”
