ARCHIE comic fans should brace themselves because their red-headed hero is about to meet a grisly demise.
Resident Riverdale Romeo Archie Andrews is set to bite the dust in the recent Life With Archie No. 36 series.
Details are scant about how it will happen but a cover image released shows the two women in his life, Betty and Veronica, looking in anguish as they notice blood all over Archie’s shirt. It appears from the image that he has met with foul play.
“We’ve been building up to this moment since we launched ‘Life With Archie’ five years ago, and knew that any book that was telling the story of Archie’s life as an adult had to also show his final moment,” said Archie Comics Publisher/Co-CEO Jon Goldwater in a statement. “Archie dies as he lived — heroically. He dies saving the life of a friend, and does it in his usual selfless way. Archie has always been a representation of us — the best of us. Our strengths and our faults,”
The best news however for fans of the comics is that Archie will live on in comics set in the present day.
The focus of the “Life With Archie” series is on possible future scenarios for Archie and his pals.
