Megan Fox has revealed she had a miscarriage alongside fiancé Machine Gun Kelly.
The 37-year-old US actress recounted her “very difficult” journey in two poems featured in her poetry book, Pretty Boys Are Poisonous, and in a sit-down interview with Good Morning America, which aired on Tuesday, reports New York Post.
“I had never been through anything like that before in my life,” said Fox. “I have three kids, so it was very difficult for both of us, and it sent us on a very wild journey together and separately and together and apart … trying to navigate, ‘What does this mean?’ and ‘Why did this happen?’”
In the book, which hit newsstands on Tuesday, the Transformers star alludes that she feels somewhat responsible for the loss of her unborn child after she recalls having an ultrasound at 10 weeks and a day, writing, “maybe if you hadn’t… maybe if i had…”
In the book, Fox details the feeling of longing she has to hold her daughter.
She writes, “I want to hold your hand / hear your laugh,” and later, “but now / I have to say / goodbye. As they rip you from my insides / I will pay any price / Tell me please / What is the ransom / For her soul?”
Fox was married to Brian Austin Green for 10 years from 2010 to 2020, and shares three children with the Beverly Hills, 90210 actor: Journey River, Bodhi Ransom and Noah Shannon.
The Jennifer’s Body star is also the soon-to-be stepmum to fiancé Machine Gun Kelly’s daughter, Casie Colson Baker. In her one-on-one, she admitted that it was her rocker beau, 33, that encouraged her to write the book.
“The person who actually told me I should write a poetry book is Colson,” she said on GMA. “I just think it was something inside of me that had to come out, because it was going to make me sick.”
Despite the book’s many revelations, Fox says there are a few stories that didn’t make it on the page.
“I wrote a lot of things that didn’t make it in the book,” Fox said. “Because I was like, this is maybe for God’s eyes only. Some of it is too much when you’re a known person.
“If I had the freedom of just being a poet and people really not wanting to dig too much into my personal life, I would have included more entries like that.”
In an August Instagram post announcing the book, Fox wrote, “I’ve spent my entire life keeping the secrets of men, my body aches from carrying the weight of their sins.”
“My freedom lives in these pages,” she added. “I hope that my words can inspire others to take back their happiness and their identity by using their voice to illuminate what’s been buried, but not forgotten, in the darkness.”
