Bindi Irwin, the daughter of the late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, has made a heartfelt plea to her fans, asking them to stop inquiring about whether she and her husband, Chandler Powell, plan to have more children.
In a candid YouTube video shared on Thursday morning, Bindi and Chandler, who are parents to three-year-old Grace Warrior, revealed that they were constantly asked when they will have a second child.
While they acknowledged that these enquiries were usually made with kind intentions, they made it clear that Grace would likely be their only child, kindly asking fans to refrain from asking such personal questions.
“Don’t ask someone if you’re having children or more children because you don’t know what’s happening behind those closed doors,” Bindi said.
Chandler, who sat beside her, nodded in agreement before sharing the challenging journey that led to Grace’s birth.
“Basically, we get asked this question a lot. And Bindi — she went through a big journey with endometriosis, and basically, it was an absolute miracle that we had Grace. We love Grace so much and are revelling in every little moment we have with her, with our little miracle baby. So we are so happy with our little family of three,” Chandler said.
“We feel very lucky to have Grace. She is our beautiful girl, but she will probably be our one child. She will be our one child,” Bindi added.
The conservationist couple welcomed Grace Warrior in 2021, on their one-year wedding anniversary.
The pair had wed during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 at Australia Zoo, just hours before Australia banned weddings attended by more than five people.
In March 2023, Bindi publicly revealed that she had been diagnosed with endometriosis, a condition she had silently battled for a decade.
She shared the news on Instagram, just days after undergoing surgery, marking the first time she had spoken openly about her diagnosis.
Reflecting on their family, Bindi expressed immense gratitude for the gift of parenthood and the joy their daughter brings into their lives.
“It’s really hard because sometimes it’s so easy to say, ‘Grace will be our only child’. And I do not like the word ‘only’ — Grace is our child. She is our one beautiful, perfect, amazing little girl. And oh my goodness, every single day I think about how lucky we are to have her.”
Despite the likelihood that Grace would remain their only child, Bindi left a glimmer of possibility for the future.
“But you never know, maybe, maybe we will be blessed with another little one down the road — that would be incredible — but who knows. We are just revelling in Grace right now,” she said
Bindi, who has been open about her battle with endometriosis, also took the opportunity to send love and support to others who are on their own health journeys.
“Sending all my love and hugs to everybody out there who is on their own women’s health journey,” she said.
