This series joins the ranks of Moriarty’s novels that have made the leap to television, following the success of Big Little Lies and Nine Perfect Strangers.

Apples Never Fall not only brings a gripping story to the screen but also underscores the economic impact of high-profile productions in Australia.

Announced in February 2023, the series’ production on the Gold Coast was heralded as a significant boost to the local economy.

“With the support of my government’s Production Attraction Strategy through Screen Queensland, this high-profile production will soon be filming on the Gold Coast, contributing an estimated $29.5 million to the state’s economy and creating nearly 200 jobs for local cast and crew, as well as 1000 opportunities for extras,” Federal Arts Minister Tony Burke said.

However, the production phase of the series faced significant challenges due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA actors strike which lasted from July 14 to November 9.

Apples Never Fall was one of the two major productions in Queensland which were forced to shut down during the strike.
