Amy Shark cancels North American tour for emergency surgery

Queensland singer and recent Logies winner Amy Shark has announced the cancellation of her much-anticipated North American tour, which was set to kick off in September, to undergo urgent surgery.

Queensland singing sensation and recent Logies winner, Amy Shark, has pulled the plug on her highly anticipated North American tour.

The 37-year-old artist announced the sudden cancellation on Instagram, leaving fans in shock as she cited the immediate need for surgery as the reason behind the decision.

Shark was scheduled to kick off a multi-city extravaganza, including New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago, on September 6 at Washington D.C‘s Union Stage. The tour was to conclude at Los Angeles’ El Rey Theatre on September 26.

Taking to Instagram, a visibly upset Shark, wearing a blue hospital gown, said, “In recent days I’ve had some very uncomfortable painful moments and have just found out that I need surgery ASAP.”

The singer assured them that she is “all good” but needs a month to recover from the unspecified ailment.

“I’m very sorry but I need to focus on my health for a month. I hope you understand, and I promise I’ll be back as soon as I’m recovered. Much love from sad Amy,” she wrote.

The “sad Amy” post, showing her teary-eyed in a hospital setting, resonated deeply with her fans, many of whom including fellow Aussie celebrities took to social media to share their love, support, and prayers for a speedy recovery.

“Sending you love Amy,” actor Rebel Wilson wrote.

“Sending love babe,” Jessica Veronica from the Veronicas added.

Shark’s decision comes after a successful year, including a Logies win last month for ‘Most Popular New Talent’.
