The Trailblazer Award, previously bestowed upon icons like Chris Hemsworth and Isla Fisher, recognised Robbie’s acting roles and her influential work with her production company, LuckyChap Entertainment.
“It’s really amazing, and the fact that they’re holding the awards on the Gold Coast, it feels like it was all meant to be this year,” Robbie said.
Receiving the award at the Gold Coast’s acclaimed HOTA, Robbie reminisced about her early days performing at the venue.
“Twenty years ago I was (here) performing a vaguely inappropriate dance routine in our inter-school dance eisteddfod,” she told the crowd.
In addition to the Trailblazer honour, Robbie also took out the AACTA Audience Choice Award for Favourite Actress and the AACTA International Award for Best Lead Actress in Film, underscoring her widespread acclaim.
Robbie partied the evening away among Australia’s film elite, including Hollywood heavyweights Cate Blanchett and the awards host Rebel Wilson, who playfully poked fun at Queensland’s unique charm during her opening monologue.
“I love Queensland, It’s like if Jetstar was a state – it’s where all the best Married At First Sight contestants come from,” she said.
Horror film Talk to Me emerged as a significant winner at the awards, securing both Best Film and Best Direction awards, while the children’s show Bluey won Best Children’s Program.
Meanwhile, Margot Robbie has revealed she is in the process of trying to produce a film in her hometown on the Gold Coast.
“Trust me, I keep trying, trust me, it’s going to happen” she said.
