Christmas movies that make unbelievable money each year

Santa’s already delivered a sack-load of festive flicks for our Christmas entertainment, so here’s our pick of the best.

Best. Christmas. Ever! (Netflix)

A bold title for a glitzy, feel-good flick, starring Heather Graham and Brandy Norwood as two old college friends who spend Christmas together.

Drama ensues when one is jealous of how perfect the other’s life seems.

Will her Grinch-like feelings ruin Christmas?

We can safely assume, they will not.

Candy Cane Lane (Amazon Prime)

Eddie Murphy stars as a dad so determined to win his neighbourhood Christmas house- decorating competition, he accidentally signs his life away to a naughty elf.

Such a nuisance when that happens.

Can his family stop him getting turned into a festive figurine?

Conclusion: always read the fine-print.

Family Switch (Netflix)

Another family caper, from Jennifer Garner and Ed Helms, in which The Walker family wakes up one day to discover the kids have body-swapped with their parents.

Surprise! Haven’t seen that plot before.

It’s Yes Day meets Oh No Day, but it’s guaranteed to turn out OK in the end.

Dashing Through The Snow (Disney+)

Chris “Ludacris” Bridges stars as a Christmas-hating dad, who discovers Santa (Lil Rel Howery) stuck upside-down in his chimney.

Pursued by bad elves and snowmen, who are after Santa’s naughty and nice lists, can he and his daughter help Santa save Christmas?

Anyone who has ever watched The Christmas Chronicles, can safely bet they can.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid Christmas: Cabin Fever (Disney+)

We can’t get enough of Greg Heffley’s adventures and here’s an animated feature film about the hapless kid’s crazy Christmas.

While Susan Heffley is determined to have the perfect family Christmas, things go awry when they get snowed in and Greg suffers from cabin fever.

Spoiler: Rowley will survive.

Jones Family Christmas (Stan)

For a proper Aussie Christmas movie, with lashings of sentimental moments, this stars Heather Mitchell as Heather Jones, who gathers her clan for what she hopes will be festive fun.

But things begin to heat up when the Joneses are smoked out with bushfires, which may or may not bring them all together at the end.

The Velveteen Rabbit (Apple)

Based on the beloved classic children’s book, this is a lovely adaptation, featuring the voices of Helena Bonham Carter and Bridgerton’s Nicola Coughlan, alongside Phoenix Laroche as William, who receives the cuddly bunny for Christmas.

We cried just at the trailer, so there’s no hope.

The Naughty Nine (Disney+)

An Ocean’s Eleven for kids, it’s about a gang of children who plan a heist on Santa (Danny Glover) when they realise they’re all on the naughty list and will be getting nothing.

The Bad Guys: A Very Bad Holiday (Netflix)

The gang from last year’s animated crime caper The Bad Guys returns for an advent adventure.

They love the holidays, because it’s the best time to rob the city.

But instead, they find themselves on a quest to save the spirit of Christmas.

Oh, you guys.

Genie (Foxtel and Binge)

This fairytale flick, a remake of ’90s British TV film Bernard and the Genie, with McCarthy as the genie let out of the bottle/jewellery box, by desperate Bernard (Paapa Essiedu), who has lost his job and is in danger of losing his family.

As she sets about granting his every wish, things, predictably, begin to unravel.
