These are the Moreton schools that consistently top the state’s NAPLAN results.

An independent analysis of five years of NAPLAN results has revealed the schools that performed the best in the Year 5 and Year 9 tests between 2015 and 2019.

To find how each school performed between 2015 and 2019, their average scores for each year were combined and the yearly average found.

Special schools, schools with fewer than 20 students enrolled in either year, and schools that did not report any results for NAPLAN subjects in either year were excluded from the analysis.

The figures were independently compiled from the Federal Government’s MySchool website.

Over that five-year period, Patricks Road State School, in Ferny Hills, had higher Year 5 yearly results than any other school in the state, scoring an average of 2638.0 each year.

School principal Danielle Priday credited the consistent above average results, across all NAPLAN testing categories, to a combination of two factors.

“The support of our community combined with brilliant teachers is a winning combination to enable our children to enjoy school, be children and successful learners,” she said.

The top performing Year 9 school was The Lakes College, in North Lakes, where the average yearly result was 2998.6 for the five years.

The Lakes College, also had the second highest results for Year 5s over that period, with a yearly average of 2625.6.

School principal Simon Armstrong said while the school was “very pleased” with its NAPLAN results it actually put very little focus on the test.

He said they preferred to focus on giving students the skills to succeed in all situations.

“Specific preparation for NAPLAN is minimal and focuses on developing the student’s confidence and comfort in the environment of a test situation,” Mr Armstrong said.

“The Lakes College focus on building literacy and numeracy skills across all subjects.”

He said staff analysed the results, alongside other data to assist in planning for the individual learning needs of all students.

“While NAPLAN is a ‘point-in-time’ reflection of a child’s ability, it, along with a range of experiences and other educational data assist our staff in fully understanding the needs of the students, tracking their progress and planning programs to provide the best possible learning experiences and outcomes for all students at The Lakes College,” Mr Armstrong said.

“We have a team approach to supporting our students. All staff work together to know the children, to understand their needs and to plan for their success.”

The third best performing Year 5 school was Samford State School, in Samford Village, with five yearly average results of 2594.0.

The second-best performing Year 9 results were at Genesis Christian College, in Bray Park, where yearly results were 2995.4

Good Shepherd Christian School, in Albany Creek, had the third highest average results between 2015 and 2019 with averages of 2943.4.
