St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School and Monto State High School are the North Burnett’s top performing NAPLAN schools of 2025.
An independent analysis of newly-released 2025 NAPLAN results have revealed the schools which performed the best in the Year 5 and Year 9 tests, which students took back in March.
St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Gayndah had the best primary results compared to any other school in the North Burnett, scoring an average of 474.6.
Monto State School was the second best for the region with an average score of 460.8, while Gayndah State School was the third best with an average score of 456.8.
Monto State High School has once again received the top performing secondary school results, where the average score was 552.8.
Mundubbera State College was the second best for the region with an average score of 545, while Burnett State College in Gayndah was the third best with an average score of 508.4.
Compared with previous years, Monto State High School’s scores have increased significantly, up from 522.4 and 536.0 in the previous two years.
However, the primary results are lower than the previous two years.
St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School averaged 495.2 in 2024, and Boynewood State School scored 498.2 in 2023.
To determine how each school performed, scores for all five tests in reading, writing, spelling, grammar and numeracy for Year 5 or Year 9 were combined and the average calculated.
Special schools, schools with fewer than 20 students enrolled, and schools that did not report any results for NAPLAN subjects were excluded from the analysis.
The figures were independently compiled from the Federal Government’s MySchool website.
