Presbyterian and Methodist Schools Association announces high profile appointments

The Presbyterian and Methodist Schools Association, which runs a number of elite Brisbane schools, has had a major overhaul with a number of new, high profile appointments this week.

How did the PMSA schools scandal unfold?

SOME high profile appointments have been made to the Presbyterian and Methodist Schools Association (PMSA).

Following the body’s annual general meeting on Monday night, PwC partner Jane Madden was named a board member as well as chair of the audit, finance and risk committee while Fair Work Commissioner Paula Spencer was appointed to the nominations and human resources committee.

Other appointments included barrister Jacoba Brasch QC and past St Margaret’s principal Dr Vicki Waters who were both appointed to the PMSA’s new child protection and safeguarding committee.

The PMSA has been besieged by controversy in recent years, including in 2017 over an IT security breach and the download of thousands of confidential files about some of the state’s most prominent figures including Governor Paul de Jersey.

Last year, the PMSA was forced to deal with the shock resignation of Clayfield College principal Kathy Bishop.

Also in 2019, parents and alumni were demanding the axing of the “old guard” after ex-PMSA executive Rick Hiley, was charged with fraud relating to the 2017 IT security breach.
