TWO prestigious colleges are recruiting for a new executive principal following the stunning resignation of their principal earlier this year.

Moreton Bay College and Moreton Bay Boys College in Manly West have advertised the position of executive principal and chief executive officer of the two elite colleges, about four months after executive principal James Sloman resigned in July.

The advertisement in The Courier-Mail and on Seek says the executive principal would play an instrumental role in driving strategy, leading teaching and learning, and building the vision and culture of the Moreton Bay Colleges.

“A significant requirement of this role is strong and clear leadership, both internally and externally, and an expectation that the CEO and Executive Principal will engage and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders and the wider community,” the advertisement on Seek says.

The Courier-Mail this year revealed Mr Sloman was absent from the colleges since the beginning of this school year while under an investigation over allegations of inappropriate behaviour which began in August 2019.

Mr Sloman denied the allegations and also lodged a “stop bullying” complaint against the college with the Fair Work Commission, and later resigned on July 3.

In correspondence to parents announcing Mr Sloman’s resignation, MBC and MBBC Board chair Samantha O’Brien wrote on July 3 that during Mr Sloman’s personal leave, authority had been delegated to Heads of College Janet Stewart and Andrew Holmes.

“Moving forward, the Colleges will continue business as usual as the Board works with the Heads of College to determine the right senior leadership model to best support our future plans and the needs of our community,” the letter said.

Mr Sloman also sent a letter to parents his resignation at the time which said he had been “blessed to be here, grateful to the Board for their belief and support and touched by the many, many private messages of support in recent months”.

The Colleges have been contacted for comment.
