Queensland’s most popular ATAR subjects have been revealed following a turbulent, Covid-affected academic year, with two subjects coming out on top by a considerable margin. SEE THE LIST.

Queensland’s most popular ATAR subjects have been revealed with more than 20,000 students having studied English and General Mathematics.

The Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre’s ATAR Report 2021 shows the two subjects were the most studied general subjects for the year, followed by Biology and Mathematical Methods.

Meanwhile only 0.03 per cent of students who studied general subjects took Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies and 0.09 took Aerospace Systems.

Physical Education had 6,006 students while Business and Modern History had more than 4,000 people in general subjects take the classes.

For students who studied Senior External Examination, Chinese was the most popular with 176 students and 25.21 per cent followed by Vietnamese with 19.05 per cent.

General Extension subjects had more than 600 students studying English and Literature Extension and Music Extension (Performance).

French Extension made up 1.68 per cent of students who took General Extension subjects while German Extension had 4.02 per cent.

More than 20 per cent of students who chose applied subjects took Essential Mathematics and Essential English while Sport and recreation had 7,058 participants.

Queensland’s 2021 year 12 cohort had 17,486 complete a VET Certificate III and 21,380 complete VET training overall.
