Suburb-by-suburb guide: New detail shows how far 200k Covid cases spreading across Qld
SUBURB-BY-SUBURB INTERACTIVE MAP: Multiple Queensland suburbs have now recorded more than 1000 Covid-19 cases in just a matter of weeks. But, while South East Queensland has a high concentration of them, new data shows just how far across the state the virus is spreading.

The Queensland suburbs that have recorded more than a thousand cases of Covid-19 in just a few weeks are largely concentrated on the Gold Coast, new government data of more than 200,000 infections has revealed.
A total of 15 suburbs have recorded more than a thousand cases of Covid-19 since December 13, with the Ipswich community of Redbank Plains again shooting to the top of the outbreak list with 1787 cases.
But most of the suburbs with high infection rates are within the Gold Coast City Council area, including Southport-North with 1252 cases, Surfers Paradise South with 1233 cases, Mermaid Beach-Broadbeach with 1218 cases and Varsity Lakes with 1050 cases.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk on Wednesday said she did not think the return of quarantine-free international travel would cause an increase in cases because they were “more likely to pick up the virus in Queensland” at the moment.
She also singled out the Gold Coast for having a vaccination rate lower than the state average, with about 90.5 per cent of the population there getting at least one jab so far.
The only area north of Brisbane with a 1000 cases to date was Cairns City.
But the tourism hotspot of Airlie Beach, as of January 18, was three cases away from hitting the thousand case milestone.

The suburbs with the largest Covid-19 case numbers included Redbank Plains, Newstead-Bowen Hills (1400 cases), Southport-North (1252 cases) and Inala-Richlands (1238 cases).
Queensland’s death toll from the pandemic since December had swelled to 56 on Wednesday after the Premier announced 11 more people had died due to the virus.
The state recorded 19,932 new Covid-19 cases.
