Hundreds of thousands of Queenslanders have been urged to get a Covid jab as data reveals how long before the state reaches a90 per cent double dose milestone.

QUEENSLAND is expected to reach a coveted Covid-19 vaccination milestone just as the state hits the peak of Omicron wave, jab data shows.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk urged the more than 360,000 unvaccinated adult Queenslanders to go out and get a jab, with the peak of the state’s surging Omicron wave expected to hit in the “last week of January and first week of February”.
As of the latest data, released on Sunday, 91.15 per cent of adult Queenslanders have had at least one dose, with 87.79 per cent have had both doses.
Chief health officer Dr John Gerrard said Queensland was “getting pretty close to that 90 per cent”.
Covid-19 vaccination data, analysed by The Courier-Mail, puts the date Queensland will hit 90 per cent double vaccinated around January 21—just before the predicted peak.
It means the last of Queensland’s travel restrictions will also fall away.
Once the milestone is reached, there will be no restrictions on entry—including quarantine and Covid-19 testing—for fully vaccinated travellers coming in from interstate or overseas.
Meanwhile, the vaccine rollout for children aged five to 11 began on Monday.
About 800 children were expected to be vaccinated at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre alone on Monday, while Health Minister Yvette D’Ath said more than 4700 five- to 11-years olds were getting vaccinated from today.
Walk-ins were stopped at the South Bank clinic after the hub reached capacity at 11am.
