Queensland records no new cases of COVID-19 overnight
Queensland has recorded no new cases of coronavirus overnight as interstate visitors continue to make their way across the border for the school holidays and the situation continues to spiral out of control in Victoria.

PREMIER Annastacia Palaszczuk says Queensland has recorded no new cases overnight, with the state’s active total remaining at three.
Two Australian Defence Force personnel who returned from overseas and are now in isolation were confirmed as this weekend’s only new Queensland cases on Saturday.
Queensland remains on 1,070 confirmed cases of the virus, with 1,058 people recovered.
The state has conducted 421,738 tests.

When asked whether it was possible to schedule a fight with Jeff Horn and Tim Tszyu event in Townsville at the end of August, Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said Queensland had to be positive and keep planning despite the possibility of further outbreaks.
“Queensland is in a very good position and it’s up to the job of all of Queenslanders to do those simple things we’ve been asking about that social distancing, that hand hygiene, that’s absolutely important,” she said.

But the Premier reminded Queenslanders the state was in a “new COVID world” which meant everyone had to abide by the health measures.
Asked whether she was concerned about cases growing in Queensland, after the borders reopened on Friday, she said people shouldn’t be travelling if they were sick.
“Secondly if they develop any symptoms they need to get tested,” she said.
“I’ve had some reports from people saying they’re turning up to their workplaces that are sick,” she said.
“And it might just be a common cold … but we are in this new world, that if you are sick please stay at home.
“If we all follow those basic rules, we’ll get through this.”

Queensland’s borders are currently shut to all Victorian visitors, but it didn’t stop 46 people suspected to have been in hotspots in the past 14 days trying to cross the border yesterday.
All were blocked from entering Queensland.
Victorian recorded 273 new cases overnight, alongside another death.
