Qld set to hit 70 per cent double dose on Monday, border restrictions to ease

Returning residents have been told they can start planning for home quarantine now even though the state has not quite reached the magic 70 per cent fully vaccinated milestone. HERE’S WHAT YOU CAN DO TO PREPARE

Where and when Aussies can book international travel

Queensland is set to hit 70 per cent fully vaccinated on Monday, with stranded residents able to re-enter their state to home quarantine early this week.

Health Minister Yvette D’Ath revealed on Sunday that Queensland had reached 69.94 per cent fully vaccinated, which would push forward the road map allowing domestic travellers to home quarantine, which was set to be reached on November 19.

“People can start planning now and getting ready, having a look at the criteria,” Ms D’Ath said.

“The most important thing is people looking at the criteria to see if they are eligible to fly into Queensland and to home quarantine.”

Criteria includes being fully vaccinated, having proof of vaccination, arriving by air, receiving a negative Covid-19 test in the past 72 hours and having a suitable residence for quarantine.

A suitable residence involved having no shared common access areas, being within a two-hour drive from their final airport or arrival into Queensland.

Hotel rooms, house boats, caravans, motorhomes or caravan park cabins were not considered suitable residences for hotel quarantine.

Returning Queenslanders were also required to travel from their airport to their quarantine residence by private transport, contactless car hire or a pre-booked endorsed transport provider.

To be fully vaccinated means it has to have been at least 2 weeks since a person received their second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

“If you are eligible, you can start putting things in place about making sure you’re fully vaccinated and you’ve checked all those boxes so when the system does go live you’ll be able to get that border pass as quickly as possible.”

To prepare, Queenslanders could check flight availability, get a Covid-19 PCR test and wait for a negative result as well as arrange private transport so that they could apply for the appropriate Queensland Border Declaration Pass once it goes live.

Applications for the border declaration pass required proof of identity, evidence of being fully vaccinated, a flight itinerary and evidence of having has a negative Covid-19 test in the past 24 hours.
