It comes after Ms Palaszczuk earlier today announced six cases detected in quarantine.
Four of those are in hotel quarantine and two are in home quarantine and are tied to people who have travelled from interstate.
Health Minister Yvette D’Ath said that the Gold Coast case could not be linked to any of the new quarantine cases.
“They could have been on the Gold Coast or elsewhere in Queensland,” she said.
“This reinforces the importance of people coming forward if they have symptoms,” she said.
Acting CHO Dr Peter Aiken also said the new cases were not linked to the new case of Covid-19 announced on the Gold Coast on Wednesday.
He said the case was “concerning” because the man had not travelled interstate.
Dr Aiken said the most likely cause for the community case on the Gold Coast was an incursion from New South Wales.
“The genomics does link to previous cases in New South Wales,” he said.
He said that the recent case had, however, not travelled interstate recently so Queensland Health was unsure how he had contracted the virus.
“What it does mean is that we need everyone in the Gold Coast to come forward and get tested and more importantly get vaccinated,” he said.
Dr Aiken said it was important to make sure that no one else on the Gold Coast had been exposed and may have the virus.
Ms Palaszczuk again urged Gold Coast residents to get vaccinated and come forward if they had any symptoms.
Queensland has tipped over 86.4 per cent first dose of eligible Queenslanders and 77.21 per cent have had their second dose.
Ms D’Ath said while the state was “of course” aiming for 80 per cent double dose but want to push forward to 90 per cent as soon as possible to “provide greater protections”.
She said that the Victoria case figures from this morning was a tragic reminder of how deadly this virus can be.
Victoria today had 1118 local cases and 11 deaths.
Mrs D’Ath said the government was watching the Covid situation unfolding in South Australia “very closely” but no changes would be made at this time.
South Australia has recorded 18 new Covid-19 cases with the number of exposure sites growing.
The Premier said there was no plans to change the road map.
She said that there has been no updates from the Prime Minister in regards to the new Covid variant and would know more after National Cabinet next Friday. A total of 10,041 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours and 11,545 vaccines were administered.
