Queensland has again recorded zero new cases of coronavirus, with the number of active cases in the state dropping to five.
Speaking from Cairns, Ms Palaszczuk said there had been more than 6000 tests.
Discussions about international travellers quarantining in Cairns hotels are ongoing, however Ms Palaszczuk said because the Defence Force was in the southeast, that would be the priority area.
Ms Palaszczuk repeated there needed to be 28 days of no community transmission in New South Wales for Queensland’s border to reopen to the southern state.
“I think we want to see all of Australia reopen,” she said.
But she said the Government would like to see Cairns participate if the region wanted to.
Ms Palaszczuk also announced the State Government would commit $28m for two new wharves in Cairns.
She said said it had been raised with her by the community and Advance Cairns.
“It could bring hundreds of extra jobs to this region,” the Premier said.
Treasurer Cameron Dick said the investment would expand capacity to service vessels from around the world.
