SATURDAY:

A Strathpine man at the centre of Queensland’s latest COVID-19 crisis threw a house party after being ordered to isolate, Queensland Health has revealed.

The man was a friend of the 26-year-old Stafford tradie who visited a large number of locations last week while unknowingly positive, sparking a contact tracing emergency.

It comes as Brisbane’s largest performing arts centre announced a mandatory mask rule to all visitors and workers of the entertainment precinct, beginning today.

In a post on Facebook, Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) revealed that the decision was made in the interest of being proactive in a fast-changing environment.

“We’re all about the health and safety of everyone who visits and works at QPAC,” a spokesperson wrote.

The decision comes as the performing arts centre finally get back on track after an almost-six month lockdown hit them hard last year.

QPAC is currently operating at 100 per cent capacity under a COVID-Safe Plan approved by Queensland Health.
