With Queensland on the verge of the peak of the third and latest Covid-19 wave, more than 10,500 PCR tests results from the past week alone have revealed the extent of the spread of the virus.
The Queensland Health data from July 12 to July 19 shows the suburbs which have recorded the most positive tests results with Townsville and Cairns particularly hard hit along with remote areas previously spared from the pandemic.

Kirwan up in Townsville continued to suffer one of the biggest outbreaks, recording 116 cases in the past week while nearby Burdell-Mount Low had 97. Redlynch in Cairns was also hard hit with 106 cases.
In remote areas, there were 46 positive recordings in the Cape York regions, 27 in Barcaldine and Blackall, 43 in Tully and 64 in Lowood.
On the Fraser Coast, Maryborough had 53 cases while Bargara up near Bundaberg had 44.
In Brisbane, Alexandra Hills had among the highest number of new cases with 58, Coorparoo had 44, Calamvale-Stretton 44 and Ashgrove with 46 while slightly further north Caboolture had 61 cases while Nambour had 49.
On the Gold Coast, some of the worst affected areas included Oxenford/Maudsland which recorded 55 cases, Varsity Lakes had 52 while Upper Coomera had 54.
It comes after overnight figures which showed more than 1000 people in Queensland were in hospital with the virus, with 21 of those in intensive care units.
There were 15 deaths recorded in the past 24 hours, along with 9650 new cases.
Deputy premier Steven Miles said there had been no change to restrictions or mask mandates but urged people to stay home if they are sick and to get tested.
Mr Miles encouraged mask wearing at all times.
“There is a lot of Covid in the community right now,” Mr Miles said.
“And there’s a lot of people in hospital with Covid.
“The best way you can avoid spreading it is all of those hygiene measures that we’ve been talking about all this time, as well as having a mask with you.”
