Suburbs in Ipswich, inner Brisbane and the Gold Coast have been revealed as infection hotspots as Omicron sweeps the state.
New Queensland Health Covid-19 data, analysed by the Courier-Mail, has revealed the number of infections recorded in each suburb (SA2 area) across the state since the start of the Omicron wave in mid-December.
The data shows Redbank Plains, in Ipswich, had recorded 428 Covid-19 cases between December 13 and January 4—the highest of any suburb in Queensland.
The Courier-Mail earlier this week reported the Ipswich Hospital emergency department was “sinking fast” with no beds available and those with severe Covid symptoms treated in hallways alongside other vulnerable patients in a virus breeding ground.

There have been 369 infections in Newstead-Bowen Hills, with 194 cases so far in neighbouring New Farm.
A total of 335 cases were logged in Inala-Richlands—where Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk’s electorate is centred.
Paddington-Milton had 215 cases, Forest Lake-Ellen Grove had 262 cases, while Marsden had 286 cases.
Airlie – Whitsundays had the highest virus burden of any area outside the southeast corner with 254 cases.
Suburbs in the Gold Coast dominated the top 20, including Surfers Paradise south (302), Mermaid Beach- Broadbeach (283 cases), Palm Beach (233), Southport – South (204) and Southport – North (201).

Meanwhile, Coorparoo had 170 cases, Bracken Ridge had 130 cases, Kedron-Gordon Park had 171 cases, south Brisbane had 159 and Woolloongabba had 142.
Outside Greater Brisbane, Jondaryan near Toowoomba had recorded 166 cases since December 12.
While a number of suburbs appear to have recorded no cases, a total of 6476 Covid-19 infections recorded by Queensland Health were not allocated a suburb.
Queensland on Thursday recorded a daily record of 10,332 new Covid cases and one death in the past 24 hours.
There are now 284 people in hospital and 12 in ICU - which chief health officer Dr John Gerrard warned was expected to increase significantly in coming days.
