POLICE are hunting a woman who scaled a hotel balcony on the Gold Coast to escape quarantine.

They say the Queensland woman, 24, forced open a locked balcony door in the Sofitel Hotel at Broadbeach and fled.

She had been ordered into hotel quarantine last Monday.

“We’ve launched an investigation to track her down,” Gold Coast police acting chief superintendent Rhys Wildman said.

“We’re examining CTTV footage to determine when she absconded.”

The woman was identified as missing about lunchtime on Wednesday.

It was unclear which level of the hotel she was escaped from.

Supt Wildman said the woman had tested negative for Covid-19.
