First Covid-19 cases in regions recorded in Roma, Blackall
The number of active Covid cases has surged in the Brisbane region overnight. Here’s where every case is located in the state.

Cases is Brisbane’s Metro South region have more than doubled while Cook Shire recorded its first case of the pandemic as numbers climbed by 765 overnight.
The state had 2,147 active cases on December 25, with 317 of those located in Brisbane’s Metro South region – an increase of 200 on the previous day.
Of the cases, 228 are in the Gold Coast, 145 in Metro North and 83 on the Sunshine Coast.
There were 1,170 active cases listed as interstate, other or awaiting assignment.
West Moreton (65), Townsville (20), Darling Downs (34), Children's Health Queensland (28), Central Queensland (11) and Cairns (25) also had active cases.
Health Minister Yvette D’Ath said the virus was going to come to “every single community in Queensland.”
“How prepared we are is dependent on how compliant people are with the rules that we’re putting in place and of course our vaccination rates,” she said.
There were 4,876 active quarantine notices as at December 25, with 2,285 in Metro North and 1,025 in Metro South.
The Gold Coast had 616 active quarantine notices, while Cairns had 189, Darling Downs 98 and Sunshine Coast 235.
Notices were also current for Central Queensland (51), Mackay (39), West Moreton, (101), Townsville (180) and Wide Bay (56).
