Thousands of Brisbane families undergoing home quarantine will today undergo their final mandatory COVID-19 tests, as the end of their isolation period draws near.
The majority of Brisbane Grammar School and Brisbane Girls Grammar School staff, students and their household contacts are set to finish their 14-day quarantine periods on Friday, 11.59pm, pending a second negative test.
Yesterday thousands of families linked to Indooroopilly State High School flocked to COVID-19 testing sites for their Day 12 tests, in anticipation of their quarantine period ending.
BGS headmaster Anthony Micallef said the school’s classes would not take place today, to allow staff and students to undertake their tests.
During the outbreak at least 19 students, parents and staff connected to BGS have tested positive, with a further three positive cases linked to BGGS.
Mr Micallef said in anticipation of a significant demand for testing, the two schools had collaborated to arrange a further drive-through testing site at the RNA Showgrounds, in addition to the testing site in place at the BGS campus in Spring Hill.
Thousands more students, staff and families connected to Ironside State School were also expected to undertake Day 12 today.
