Eased Covid restrictions for vaccinated-only Queensland venues

Venues that accept only vaccinated patrons will be rewarded with eased restrictions once Queensland’s borders reopen, which according to the Deputy Premier will lead to the banning of the unvaccinated.

Some Queensland businesses and venues are set to ban unvaccinated customers in return for eased restrictions.

In announcing Queensland’s Covid road map, Deputy Premier Steven Miles said once the state reached 80 per cent fully vaccinated, some settings and venues will decide to be “vaccinated only”.

“In return they will have eased restrictions,” he said.

“So there are venues that you can go to now if you are unvaccinated that you won’t be able to go to after the 17th of December.

“If you want to be able to go to those venues and businesses that may choose to be vaccinated only, then get vaccinated now.”

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said it was up to individual businesses on the restrictions they imposed.

Chief health officer Dr Jeannette Young said it was possible density restrictions would not be applied to venues that accept vaccinated-only patrons.

“At the moment we have very strict requirements for density limits for instance,” she said.

“So maybe we won’t have those if a business decides only to allow fully vaccinated people into their nightclub, for example.
“But that’s businesses need to think through.”
