ESSENTIAL workers are being thanked the Aussie way – by being gifted a four-pack of local craft beer.
Brisbane business The Good Beer Co launched A Good Beer Always Helps campaign three weeks ago to thank essential service workers for their care, courage and generosity during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The campaign has since gone national, with the company teaming up with award-winning independent local breweries which are all doing it tough because of social distancing rules.
More than 9300 essential workers have registered their interest across the country to say they'd like to receive a beer with Queenslanders being urged to donate $20 to say thank you.
Kathryn Robinson, a nurse at the PA Hospital in Brisbane, was gifted a four-pack last week.
She said while she's been a nurse for eight years, the pandemic had been the most trying time during her career.
"I think it’s a great idea (campaign)," she said.
"Just after a hard days work you kind of just go home wanting to relax.
"Opening the fridge door and having the beer there and knowing someone has gifted that to you makes it more enjoyable."
The Good Beer Co founder James Grugeon said there had been a brilliant response so far.
"There's nothing like seeing the reaction of the people who are keeping the country safe at the moment and keeping everything going when they receive a four-pack," he said.
"It might only seem like a small thing but the responses we've had from workers who've received their gifts shows just how much it means."
