Covid Qld: What you can and can’t do during the southeast Queensland lockdown

Eleven southeast Queensland Local Government Areas will go into a snap three-day lockdown from 4pm on Saturday. It will be the “strictest” the state has seen. Here’s what you can and can’t do.

Queensland LGAs thrown into lockdown amid six new local cases

Eleven southeast Queensland Local Government Areas will go into a snap three-day lockdown from 4pm on Saturday, following the confirmation of six new locally acquired cases of the Delta Covid-19 variant.

Deputy Premier Steven Miles says it will be the “strictest” the state has seen in order to get on top of the highly infectious strain which can spread very quickly.

The 11 LGAs affected are those that are currently operation under mask restrictions.

Here are the new details and what those people living in the affected areas can and can’t do:

- These lockdown restrictions apply to residents of the 11 LGAs AND anyone who has been in one of them at any time after 1am on Saturday.

- If in doubt, stay at home.

- Anyone who has left one of the 11 local government areas to other parts of Queensland must follow the same lockdown orders.

- People will only be able to travel within 10km of their home for essential reasons.

- Childcare centres will remain open, but only to the students whose parents are essential workers.

- Schools will remain open, but only to the students whose parents are essential workers.

- Masks mandatory for everyone at high schools, including students.

- No visitors to homes within those LGAs.

- People will only be able to travel within 10km of their home when buying essential goods and medication.

- Schools will remain open, but only to those students whose parents are essential workers.

- Childcare will also remain open to children whose parents are essential workers.

- Tough restrictions will apply to funerals and weddings, with only 10 people allowed to attend.

- Cinemas will be closed.

- Gyms will be closed.

- Places of worship closed.

- Grocery stores will remain open.

- You may leave home to exercise within a radius of 10km.

- You may leave home to provide help, care or support to others.

- You may leave home to get tested for Covid-19.

- All those getting tested for Covid-19 MUST return home after getting tested.

- You may leave home to get vaccinated.

RESTRICTIONS FOR THE REST OF QUEENSLAND

- All indoor settings: one person per 2 square metres, or 100 per cent capacity with ticketed and allocated seating

- Stadiums with a capacity of 20,000 people or more will be required to reduce capacity to 75 per cent. Spectators attending stadium events will need to wear a mask at all times, except for when eating or drinking.

- Private gatherings indoors: limited to a maximum of 100 people

- Indoor wedding ceremonies and funerals: 1 person per 2 square metres or 200 people or 100 per cent capacity with ticketed and allocated seating (whichever is greater).
