A protester has hijacked Health Minister Yvette D’Ath’s press conference demanding answers after claiming her friends had suffered adverse reactions to the Covid-19 vaccine.
The woman could be seen circling the press conference before shouting at Ms D’Ath, demanding why adverse reactions “has not been reported”.
Ms D’Ath told the lone protester she would speak to her after the conference - however the woman’s continued shouting prompted Ms D’Ath to cut it short.
Queensland on Thursday recorded three new Covid-19 cases – two of which were detected in unvaccinated people – prompting Premier Annastacia Palascscuk to hit out at dangerous anti-vaccination “misinformation”.
The protester claimed one of her friends had died after receiving the vaccine and another was “now in a wheelchair and unable to live”.
“These are my friends... my friends are dead,” she yelled.
Ms D’Ath continued to be abused by the woman after ending the conference.
The Minister was in Cairns to promote vaccination, particularly among indigenous communities.
Ms D’Ath attempted to interrupt as the woman – who appeared to be filming the encounter – continued to shout.
“So lady, I’m happy to talk to you,” the Minister said.
The woman refused, demanding she wanted answers about her ill and dead friends.
“I have a voice - you’ve said enough, explain why Margaret Miles is dead now,” the protester said.
“My friends are dead, absolutely dead.”
Adverse reactions to the vaccination are documented and investigated by national authorities.
“These are really important issues anyone who passes away does get a coronial investigation,” Ms D’Ath said.
