A person who has tested positive to COVID-19 had last week visited two southeast Queensland courthouses on three separate occasions, it can be confirmed.
The Department of Justice and Attorney-General (DJAG) on Tuesday told The Courier-Mail the person, who is not an employee of Queensland Courts, visited both the Richlands and Ipswich courthouses between the 17th and 19th of August.

Fears for students over border closure
Despite the visit to the highly frequented buildings, DJAG said there was no need for concern within the public.
“DJAG has been advised that the person visited Ipswich courthouse on 18 and 19 August, and Richlands courthouse on 17 August,” a spokesman for the Department said.
“There is no indication that people are at high risk as a result of the visits last week, but staff have been advised to monitor their health and continue to follow the advice of health authorities.”
It’s understood no public health alert was issued in relation to this matter, as the chance of infection to members of the public was considered low risk.
All individuals who came into direct contact with the now COVID-19 positive person during their visit to both courthouses have been contacted by Queensland Health directly.
According to the DJAG spokesman, both Ipswich and Richlands courthouses “have been cleaned several times”, and “overnight cleaning was arranged for Ipswich in the relevant public areas”.
Court at both venues continued as usual on Tuesday, while Queensland Courts continue to implement their COVID-safe plan, which includes additional hygiene and social distancing measures, as well as overnight cleaning regimes.
