Coronavirus Qld: The restrictions that will remain if lockdown lifts

After the lockdown lifts at 6pm for all affected local government areas except Brisbane and Moreton Bay, some ongoing restrictions will remain in place. See what you will and won’t be able to do.

Ongoing restrictions will remain in place for parts of southeast Queensland and Townsville after the announcement lockdown will be lifted for all local government areas except Brisbane and Moreton Bay from 6pm Friday.

The government today announced a 24-hour extension of the lockdown in Brisbane and Moreton Bay after five new cases were recorded overnight, including three that were locally acquired.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said lockdown will end in Noosa, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Ipswich, Logan, Redlands, Lockyer Valley, Somerset and Townsville but a range of restrictions will remain including wearing masks while outside the home.

Seated eating and drinking at hospitality venues also remained in place, while gathering limits in homes is restricted to 30 people and dancing continued to be barred.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk only last week announced that a raft of restrictions were set to be eased from Friday June 25, with the latest outbreak forcing officials to tighten up the rules once again.

Gathering limits in homes were set to be entirely scrapped under the new rules, self-service food – such as buffets – were back, and indoor venues were allowed to boost their capacity by 50 per cent.

From Friday next week, the use of the government’s check-in app will become mandatory in a much wider range of venues – including shopping centres, supermarkets, gyms, universities and theme parks.
