Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has welcomed NSW’s decision to close the border to Victoria amid the ongoing escalation in cases in the Garden State, while Queensland has once again recorded no new cases.

PREMIER Annastacia Palaszczuk has welcomed NSW’s decision to close the border to Victoria amid the ongoing escalation in cases in the Garden State.
Victoria reported 127 new cases and one death overnight as the outbreak continues, including a cluster around nine public housing estates, where 53 cases have now been linked.

The 127 cases marks a record for Victoria since the outbreak began, with a total of 645 cases still active.
Ms Palaszczuk’s latest comments come on a day where Queensland once again recorded no new cases, with only one active case remaining.
The state’s case total remains at 1055.
“We have had to make tough decisions for the health and wellbeing of Queenslanders which included closing our borders,” she said in a statement issued on Twitter.
“We will continue to listen to the advice of our Chief Health Officer.
“Last week we made the decision to maintain the border closure with Victoria.
“I welcome today’s decision to close the border between NSW and Victoria.
“We will continue to provide support to Victoria as they continue to deal with their COVID-19 response.”
