The restaurant at the centre of Queensland’s latest coronavirus emergency has shut its doors till after Easter. FULL LIST OF EXPOSURE SITES

A restaurant at the centre of Queensland’s latest COVID-19 crisis has closed its doors until after Easter.

A 26-year-old Stafford tradie who spent three hours at Mamma’s Italian Restaurant at Redcliffe north of Brisbane last Sunday while unknowingly infectious with the virus has sparked the state’s latest pandemic crisis.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced today the State Government had toughened directions around the family-owned restaurant, with anyone who had been there between 12.30pm and 3.10pm that day directed to go into 14-day self-isolation.

The restaurant has taken to Facebook to say it has shut its doors.

“We are working with Queensland Health to follow up all staff and patrons who were at our restaurant at the same time as the (positive) case,” it said.

“Please be mindful that this is a challenging event for all involved and that no-one is at fault.”

Mamma’s said Queensland Health had backdated the quarantine period for those at the restaurant from March 21 until Easter Sunday.

“This means that Mamma’s will be closed until just after Easter as all key staff were working that Sunday and it is important for us to keep them and there (sic) families safe in quarantine,” the restaurant said.

“Stay safe and we will keep you up to date with any changes or new developments but at this stage Mammas will reopen just after Easter. Take care everyone.”

Mamma’s has operated for 35 years, firstly at Woody Point and later at Margate.

It relocated to Redcliffe in 2019 to make way for a redevelopment of the Margate site.
