Clive Palmer is launching legal action against the state government after it announced unvaccinated people would be barred from venues and events in a matter of weeks.
The United Australia Party chairman on Wednesday morning announced the party would challenge the new restrictions in the Queensland Supreme Court or the High Court of Australia.
“It is a matter of great concern that the Queensland Premier has announced that residents who have not been fully vaccinated will not be able to access restaurants, clubs, hotels and events,’’ Mr Palmer said.
“Annastacia Palaszczuk has brought in these unconstitutional laws under the guise of so-called emergency legislation.
“However, we don’t have a Covid emergency in Queensland.”
The billionaire mining magnate claimed the Premier’s “theories” were “merely hypothetical” and also claimed the measures of “malfeasance and discrimination” would lead to a two-class society.
“I will ensure these politicians and bureaucrats are held accountable for any losses and will
legally make these individuals financially accountable for any damages,’’ he said.
Unvaccinated people will be banned from a raft of venues including cafes and pubs from December 17, or from when Queensland hits 80 per cent double vaccinated.
